Soon to Get Approval of Medical Degree

Good news for MBBS aspirants, Indian medical education regulator is soon to announce the approval of PG degree (Medical) from abroad. Presently, only 5 countries are recognised by medical regulatory body in India for MBBS degree which are UK, US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia while degrees from other countries like Georgia, Russia, China were struggling to be recognised in India. Now, Indian medical regulator bodies including Medical council of India have decided to allow post graduates in Medicine can practice in Indian medical hospitals or clinics after clearing DBS examination.

Students in India can avail PG Degree by 2 means

• Via PG board under the guidance of medical regulatory bodies of India and is recognised as MD.
• Via NBE through union Ministry of health and family welfare and is recognised as DBS.

Students who have done MBBS from abroad must have to clear MCI or FMGE examination if practising in India as a legal doctors, and the passing percentage has been very poor and only 15-20 percent of them are able to pass the examination every year.

Medical bodies have decided to set such a benchmark for PG students also as the doctors are meant to be highly skilled while serving patients and hence DCB is going to become mandate for students who have pursued PG in medicine from abroad has have to clear DCB examination to get recognised as a legal doctor in India.

Government has also asked for major reforms to increase the number of medical specialist in the country as the ratio of doctors to patients in the country is pathetically poor said, union ministry of health and family welfare.
