NEET Criteria Abolished for BHMS

The supreme court of India has approved the minimum marks requirement in NEET for taking admission in BHMS. Students who have appeared in NEET 2018 and want to go for admission in BHMS 2019-20 are liable to do so.

Certain mandatory requirements have to be passed by the students, according to the information brochure came in February 2019. Those mandates are 

• Candidates belongs to general/open category has have to secure 50% minimum marks in NEET 2018, to get the eligibility for BHMS admission 2019.
• Candidates belongs to reserved category has have to secure 40% to get the minimum requirement to take admission in BHMS 2019.

Both the above requirements are to be judged on the basis of highest marks secured in all India common merit list. Now, the court has also cancelled the petition filed by the association of managements of homeopathic Medical colleges against the changes made in the eligibility criteria for BHMS admission 2019.

Similarly, many other state governing medical bodies of Punjab, Haryana, madras, Calcutta, Allahabad etc. Have also filed the petition against the changed eligibility criteria, but came out with no outcome, the supreme court has stated its decision in the favour of students by allowing them to take admission as per the marks secured by them without reference to the marks secured in NEET-2018. In regard to the issuance of the eligibility orders, the court has also permit the extension of last date of filling application for BHMS from 15^th November, 2018 to 20 December 2018.

Though there is no decision made on the vacant seats followed by the eligibility criteria, but there are some vacant seats in Maharashtra in the 1^st year of BHMS course. There is also no universal law to keep the minimum marks requirement to take admission in BHMS course in every state. The court has also clarified the same- the law passed and the facts made shall not be treated as the previous case. There are no criteria made on the introduction of minimum marks to be treated as eligibility criteria for NEET-2018.
