The NEET-UG exam was proposed in the year 2012 was to replace the All India Pre Medical Test or AIPMT and all the other MBBS entrance exams that were conducted by different states or individual colleges themselves. The examination was initially supposed to be held from the year 2013 but with many colleges and other medical institutes going out to court to take out a stay order for conducting private examinations for the admission in their MBBS and BDS courses. All the government and private colleges of India are only allowed to give admission to only the students who meet the merit criteria of NEET 2018 Eligibility entrance exam.

Here are a few guidelines regarding the NEET 2018 Eligibility

  1. Any student who has successfully completed their higher secondary course and is of the age of seventeen before or on December 31st of the year is eligible to sit for the NEET that year.
  2. Any candidates can attempt to give the examination of NEET for only three times till they are 25 years that is the maximum age limit for students of general category and 30 years for the students of the reserved categories.
  3. Students who want to sit in the exam must obtain at least fifty percent marks in total if they are of the general category, some forty-five percent marks if they are of general-PH and forty percent marks if they belong to the SC/ST or OBC category to be deemed eligible to take the exam.
  4. For all the aspirants who did not fill up the NEET application form but sat for the AIPMT three times would be able to sit for NEET from now on. However, NEET will count the previous attempt made by the candidates on AIPMT before as 1.
  5. For those students who have made three full attempts on AIPMT medical exam prior to the notice issued 2017 about the three attempts that a candidate is to be allowed to sit for NEET would be counted as one for all the candidates under the age of 25(gen) and 30 (reserved).
  6. As per the most recent order issued by Hon. Justice of Supreme Court, no other medical exam other than AIIMS and JIPMER would be recognized by any government medical board or college except NEET in India from the year 2016. All seats MBBS or BDS in any medical and dental college would be filled by students securing the desired marks in NEET.
  7. Any student can give NEET in ten regional languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Odia, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu.
  8. It is necessary for every Indian candidate willing to sit in NEET to possess the AADHAAR card that is provided by UIDAI. During the time when a candidate fills the application for NEET, it is mandatory or every candidate to enter their AADHAAR card number along with their name, DOB and gender all of which is validated in the UIDAI’s.

If the particulars put down by the students on their form do not match with their AADHAAR card, then the candidates would not be able to file NEET. Therefore, all the aspiring candidates are recommended to ensure that their AADHAAR has all the relevant details like their name, DOB and gender-matched with their school records. Any mismatch in the details should immediately be corrected by the candidates in AADHAAR data as well as the school records.
