Modification of MBBS Curriculum After 21 Years

Medical council of India has declared some changes in the course curriculum of MBBS as of 2019. It has been coming to notice that MBBS syllabus will now focus on communication skills, social health and mental health side by side. The revision of the curriculum has started way early in India but the union ministry of health has passed its approval in December’17.

The council has announced this change to increase the interest of students towards social cause and self-grooming.

New Syllabus will be published soon and will come into force from 2019

• In the preparation for the respective syllabus change, MCI has started the training for the teachers so that they can get better understanding to handle the changed syllabus.
• Counselling of patients regarding the donation of organs will also be a part of the curriculum.
• Communication will be the strong area of concern, in relation to prevent the miscommunication between students and patients.
• At last, students will be examined on the basis of their ability to handle the student-patient relation.
