Cabinet Approval NMC to Replace MCI

India is very soon going to receive a new top medical regulator, i.e. National Medical Commission (NMC). A Cabinet meeting under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given the nod to the bill. This bill is taken as the replacement of the Medical Council of India with a new regulator named the National Medical Commission (NMC). An official report signified that the Union Cabinet has approved the National Medical Commission bill, 2017 at its meeting held on 15^th Dec 2017. The progression has been taken in follow up of the health ministry sending the bill after concluding it in October 2017 after some amendments including the number of elected members versus selected members. Now, according to the rule, the NMC Bill 2017 will be presented in the Parliament to get further clearance. The concerned team working on the NMC Bill 2017 had earlier said that the bill had been proposed in 2016 after the recommendations of the Committee of Niti Aayog to bring transparency in the medical education with a more authentic body of the National Medical Commission by replacing the MCI (Medical Council of India).
