Curriculum Scheme

The academic year here commences from the month of September in most of the educational institutes. The semesters of an academic year are from September To January and February To June. The first-semester exam is usually taken in January and the second semester's exam happens in July. 18 days of a winter vacation is also allotted which starts from 20^th January. Summer Holidays here fall between the months of July and August.

5. Medical Certificate that states the HIV status of a student (should be issued two months before entering the country)
6. 2-3 photographs with dimension 3.5 x 4.5 cm
7. Bank statements from the last six months

Admission Process

1. Applying online is quite easy as you can just fill in the details, choose the course you want and send the documents they asked for.

3. Once the documents have been assessed the students will be notified within a day or two. In case they are getting accepted, information will be delivered to them around the same time.
4. Once the confirmation letter is sent, the student can pay the university through online banking or another preferred paying method.
5. The documents need to be attested and the notarized from the relevant authorities.

Expenses

International students from Africa studying in Russia would need about 4500 SW Rand to sustain themselves over a month. The expenses include accommodations, food, medical emergencies, books and other immediate obligations. The ruble's economic decline has benefited overseas students since the exchange rates are more favorable for them. Make sure to leave out St. Petersburg and Moscow out of the equation if you are a student as they are very expensive than most areas. The tuition fees will vary between 5000 USD to 10000 USD for the first years but that depends solely on the university you are enrolling in. The lodging costs start from 500 roubles to 35,000 roubles per month, which again depends on the kind of region you are in and the room that you are living in. The cost for meal and grocery (bread to meat) should leave you at 65 USD per month. The average Russian estimation of their monthly meal ranges from 130 USD to 330 USD. Subway fares are cheap, especially if you can get a 20- trip travel card which will cost you around 747 roubles. Since you are also a student, a waiver can be applied where you would just have to pay 380 roubles.

That cost estimation may vary depending on the city you are in. For communication, you can get cellphones and sim cards at any retail store selling the same. Avoid buying them from street sellers as they might dupe you into buying illegit phones. To avail a sim card, you'd need your national passport and migration card at your disposal. Average sim costs 300 to 400 roubles. The same amount will also be credited to your sim card. As of clothes, you can find all the popular brands in chain stores. The prices are generally high but look out for sales. An average T shirt will cost you 300 roubles and jeans for 1,300 roubles. If you are the one for theatre then on average a ticket cost 500 to 2500 roubles. But the club entries here are free. All of these prices mentioned might not exactly be the same and are subject to variation. This is more of an estimation rather than a specific price distribution chart. Be sure to save some money which can later be used for monetary emergencies.

Documents required for Visa

1. The invitation letter provided by the university (if accepted)
2. International passport which should have the minimum validity of two years
3. The certificates and documents offered must be notarized and attested duly by the relevant authorities
4. Medical Certificates and the HIV status of the student

At Russia:

The fees for the first year must be cleared off by the student before entering the country. The flight details must be sent over to the relevant authority. The executives will then be able to receive the student and guide them accordingly. In case, any student fails to notify, they will be deported back by the immigration officials.

As the Classes Start:

For your first class, don't forget to bring the necessary documents and the receipt for the payment. Then be sure to register yourself at the college within the first three days of your arrival. Once you are done with registration and other processes, you'll be allowed to sit for the classes. You are likely to apply before the deadline and once it's been processed with approval, you should ideally be leaving your country for Russia in the first week of September.
