There is a new virus on the rise. The coronavirus has emerged since the end of December of 2019 in China. It originated from the Wuhan province in China. Its outbreak started from an illegal wildlife market. The entire province of Wuhan is under a lockdown. All flights in and out of the province have been suspended. The province has been cut off from any urban interactions to check the spread of the coronavirus. In the other parts of the world, at airports travelers from China are being screened for any infections. It has claimed over 400 lives and has infected thousands of more in China. From China, it has now spread to Nepal, Sri Lanka, the US, Japan, Thailand, India and other countries.

What is the Corona virus?

This is a new kind of some viruses which has not been identified among the humans before. The coronavirus is a family of viruses that enter a human body and can cause a series of diseases like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. This virus is transmitted between animals and humans. Though the process of transmission is yet to be known. It is observed that the virus was transmitted to humans by civet cats and camels. There are still a lot of coronaviruses in animals that have not yet been transmitted to humans. Research is still going on to find more information about the outbreak.

What are the symptoms of Corona virus?

This virus when inside a human body will cause fever, cough, breathlessness and difficulty in breathing. Severe cases on the coronavirus reported kidney failure, pneumonia, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome and even death.

What precautions are to be taken to safeguard from the Coronavirus?

Prevention is better than cure. To prevent the spread of the virus, make sure to cover the mouth while sneezing or coughing, Wash the hand very well each time before eating and cook any poultry and meat items carefully before eating.

Medical students who are engaged in studying the virus and its symptoms are highly vulnerable to the possibility of getting infected. Researchers working directly with the virus are also open to the possibility of getting infected by the virus. It is thus advised to the doctors, medical students and researches to observe proper protective precautions before coming in contact with any other infected patient of the virus itself. There are already a few reported cases of medical students and researchers getting infected by the virus.
