It was a single stage entrance test for the students who want to enrol in Medical courses like BDS or MBBS in private or government medical universities in India. This exam is regulated by the Central Board of Secondary Education known as CBSE. NEET is a replacement for other medical entrance tests in India like AIPMT and other exams which was organized by colleges or states themselves.
Now there is a drastic change in the examination policy. Students have to pass two stages to get admission in a medical course in India. The first round happens in May and the second round in July. The result is declared in the month of August for both the stages. Medical applicants are astonished by a sudden change.
Aspirants would be less pressurized now since they don’t have to prepare for different entrance exams now, as NEET has replaced other entrance exams in India. All they need to do is focus on this single exam syllabus or pattern. It will make applicants more determined and confident.
As there used to be 200 questions in total to solve in AIPMT entrance exam. Exam pattern for NEET is different from AIPMT since there are 180 questions to be solved whereas in AIPMT there were 20 more than NEET. This increases the concentration-time for each question which is an advantage for the applicants. There will be fewer chances to miss out any question and the applicants will also have a chance to check the paper rigorously. The probability of scoring better is more now.
States can still apply their previous reservation system as sanctioned by the state government. For instance, 69% of seats were reserved in Tamil Nadu but on the basis of marks scored in Class 12. Now, students will be allotted seats on the basis of marks scored in NEET but the number of seats reserved will remain the same i.e. 69%.
This is something common when it comes to getting a seat in Medical courses. This usually happens in cities which have numerous private medical colleges. People are ready to throw money and get their work done. But now NEET will make sure that there is no demand for donations and corruption. NEET applicants don’t have to worry about paying a heavy amount of donation to secure a seat. The allotment process will be fair enough to get you a seat!
The entrance tests were not fair enough earlier. The test papers used to get leaked and scams from many private colleges and state entrances. NEET ensures to stop such activities.
NEET would stop Deemed universities and private universities from conducting their own entrance tests. Also, it will be fair to the candidates who deserve to become doctors.
Applicants will have the rational opportunity to secure a seat in any medical university of any state. The aspirants only need to appear in NEET and they have a chance to secure a seat in any prestigious medical college in the country. The allotment will be fair and it will be on the basis of results.
