Zaporozhye State Medical University

Zaporozhye State Medical University (ZSMU) is an autonomous educational institution of the IV level of accreditation. The university is the center point for the students, local and overseas, planning to pursue bachelor, Master of Pharmacy and MD training. The history of the university takes you back to the times of Women Pedagogic Courses organized in Odessa in 1903. Later, in 1921, these Courses were restructured into the Chemical-Pharmaceutical Institute. In 1935, the institution was renamed with the State Pharmaceutical Institute. In 1941, the functions of the Institute were interrupted by Great Patriotic War. In 1959, the Institute was shifted from Odessa to Zaporozhye renamed as Zaporozhye Pharmaceutical Institute. The Medical Faculty was opened in 1964, and the Institute was again renamed into Zaporozhye Medical Institute in 1968. Zaporozhye Medical Institute received the status of the first category Institute in 1975. It attained the status of Zaporozhye State Medical University in 1994. Now, it has become one of the best medical universities in Ukraine.

Admission Procedure for Zaporozhye State Medical University 

1. STEP 1: Apply Online

   After going through all the details of the university, choose the course. A student can fill all the details and send us the documents via email. list of the documents required for enrolling in university

2. STEP 2: Get the Invitation Letter

   After the evolution of the documents, the student will be notified about rejection and acceptance of the application. If a student’s application form is accepted then he/she will be notified after within 1-2 working days. Also, the student will be issued the admission confirmation within the same time period.

3. STEP 3: Pay Enrolment Expenses

   After receiving the confirmation letter, a student can pay the fees through net banking or other payment methods.

4. STEP 4: Apply for the Visa

   After receiving the invitation letter, student need to apply for the Visa as soon as possible because the Visa process could take time. documents required for the visa

   2. International passport (With minimum validity of 2 years)
   3. Duly attested certificates of high school.
   4. Medical certificates confirming that the student doesn’t possess HIV/Aids and other STDs.
5. STEP 5: Arrival at Ukraine

   The student has to pay fees for the first year before arriving at Ukraine. Also, a student is supposed to send us the flight details. So, that our executive can receive and guide a student after arrival. In case, a student doesn’t inform us about the arrival then he/she could be deported back to the home country by the authorities of Immigration.

6. STEP 6: Commencement of Classes

   It is mandatory for every student to bring a complete of original documents and payment receipts of first year. It is important for a student to register himself/herself at the college after 3 days of arriving in the country. After the completion of the registration process and admission process, a student will be allowed to attend the classes. Make sure to apply to the University before the application deadline. Once you get admission to the University you will most likely depart from your home country in the 1st week of September itself.

The Fields of Training

Zaporozhye State Medical University has cemented its place as a prominent medical institution in the Ukrainian higher medical education system. The Institution has been training overseas students since 1973. Over the years, more than 10500 international students conferred with diplomas and degrees in the medical field. Thirty-six overseas students undertook PG courses and defended their thesis successfully. International students have been taught in English since 2002. The system at the University includes pre-university, undergraduate, and postgraduate periods of study. The International Faculty No. 1 is dedicated to the premedical education, whereas overseas students can continue their studies at the International Faculty No. 2. The Training is Carried out in the Following Specialties Where junior students are trained in the technical departments in the academic buildings, senior ones receive training at the clinical departments in clinics located near the Institution.

Zaporozhye State Medical University is one of the few universities in Ukraine that has its own training-scientific center, named “University Clinic,” in which practical classes are given alongside medical aid. The University is equipped with unique equipment: devices for computer tomography, ultrasonic diagnosis devices, endoscopic and angiography tests, radioisotope diagnosis, and others to conduct fundamental and applied scientific investigations. Post-diploma education encompasses training in the internship, clinical studies, training for Master’s degree, PG courses in 28 medical specialties and refresher courses for pharmacists and doctors.

Five medical specialties (including Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy, Obstetrics and Gynecology; General Practice is Domestic Medicine, Child’s Surgery, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Psychiatry, Otolaryngology, Tat anatomy, Pediatric, Pulmonology and Phthisiology, Forensic Medicine Examination; Surgery) + General Pharmacy. The medium of instruction is English.

Accommodation

The University’s student campus is a detached territory guarded by a trained guard 24x7. The university has three academic buildings, five hostels, libraries, a sports complex, and many canteens and cafes. Trees, lush-green bushes and lawns surrounding the campus along with picaresque banks of the Dnieper River offer a unique environment for creative studies.

The hostels of the university accommodate around 3000 students; two of them are dedicated to overseas students. All hostel buildings are of modern block type and include the rooms for 2 to 3 students with all required conveniences. The hostel also has the Internet hall for international students. They are also provided with the access to the Internet in their rooms.

Medical Services

Medical obligatory insurance is USD100 per year. Annually, all students irrespective of their health conditions are need to be available for mandatory preventive health checkups, and those who need treatment can receive it either at the polyclinic or the best clinics in the city. The diagnostic complex at the university campus is represented by a clinical lab, a room for endoscopic examination, a functional diagnosis division, and X-ray room. The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation plays a vital role in the treatment process. Expert medical specialists at the Regional Hospital are always available for the consultative assistance.

There is a medical unit at the University campus where students avail qualified premedical and medical aid during urgencies. Qualified specialists provide regular consultation there. Also, there is a student sanatorium-dispensary at the university campus. Students receive physiotherapy treatment there.

Sports Activities

The University has excellent sports facilities. Apart from academic building and student hostels, there is a stadium, with track and fields for other sports, like football, handball, mini-football, basketball, and volleyball. The University also has a swimming pool, tennis court, three gyms, a shooting range, and chess and draught club.
