People’s Medical College

People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research was initially established as a teaching hospital by People’s Group. It is located in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. In the year 2005, it started enrolling students for an undergraduate degree in medicine. After a full-time five and half year’s course, students are awarded MBBS. This medical college is affiliated to Barkatullah University and is approved by the National Medical Commission. In 2002, a 450 bedded hospital was established which served only as a teaching hospital but after the Ministry of Health of Government of India approved the MBBS course for 2005-06 a 750 bedded super specialty hospital was attached to the medical college.

Courses and their Contents

As a part of the curriculum of this course students have to go through one year internship in the last year of the course. Content of the course is anatomy, biochemistry, forensic, microbiology, pathology, physiology, medicine and surgery. This college ranks among the first ten medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh. Of late, they have also started postgraduate courses, MD and MS courses. There are 150 seats for MBBS courses and 39 seats for postgraduate courses. There are a wide number of subjects in this courses in which they can specialize.

Criteria of Enrollment

For MBBS course, students have to complete 17 years of age within 31st December of the year of admission. You need to have minimum 50 % marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in higher secondary examination and NEET Qualified to seek admission in the undergraduate medical courses. Students have to go through Competitive Entrance Examination conducted by the government of Madhya Pradesh. The scores of the examination are taken into account. For post graduate course, students need to have a MBBS degree from a college approved by NMC. Their scores in all India as well in the state level entrance examination are all taken into consideration. The fee structure of the courses is approximately Rs. 11,00,000 per annum.
