Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College

Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College was established in 2003 at Ambala in the Indian state of Haryana. It is affiliated to Maharishi Markandeshwar University, and is managed by the trust of the same name. It is app-roved by the National Medical Commission. The college provides both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medical sciences. The MBBS course is of duration of five and half years. It is compulsory for students to under Goa year of internship after completion of four and half years of study. The MBBS course is recognized by the Ministry of Family Health and Welfare, and the institute is permitted to enroll only 150 students per year.

Hospitals and Facilities

The academic year of the courses is segregated into two semesters. And the students have to qualify in the exam conducted at the end of the semester, to get promoted to the next one. Attached with the college is an 830 bedded hospital, which is equipped with advanced facilities, to provide the down trodden population in the vicinity of the college. A blood bank is also attached to the college, and there is also advanced laboratories attached to the different departments in the hospital. There are ICU, Cardiac ICU and also 24 hours emergency service to address the need of patients. The operation theaters are equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities.

Criteria for Admission

After qualifying senior secondary examination, students can enroll to the MBBS course. You need to have minimum 50 % marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in higher secondary examination and NEET Qualified to seek admission in the undergraduate medical courses. Students need to qualify the senior secondary or equivalent examination from a recognized board. They also need to have English as their compulsory subject in the senior secondary level. To seek admission to this course, students need to score well in the Pre medical test conducted by the state of Harayana. The score and merit of the student plays an important role for admission.

The fees for the MBBS course are about Rs. 15,00,000 per year. The medical college and the hospital rank well among the different private colleges in the state. The central library of the college has a huge collection of books and resources that facilitate the learning process of students.
