Institute of Medical Sciences & Research was established in 2012, in Satara, Maharashtra to provide quality healthcare education, research and training facilities to medical professionals. The vision of the inception of the medical institute and the hospital was to provide affordable and highly skilled delivery of healthcare facilities. The college forms a Constituent Unit of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Education Society. The various medical degree and diploma programs are recognized by the National Medical Commission or NMC and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences or MUHS, and Government of Maharashtra.

Admission Procedure of the Medical College

IMSR is renowned for its courses with various specializations in General Medicine, Surgery, Community Medicine, Pediatric, Radiology, Physiology, Forensic Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, Anatomy, and Biochemistry etc. You need to have minimum 50 % marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in higher secondary examination and NEET Qualified to seek admission in the undergraduate medical courses. The students should be at a minimum 17 years of age on or before the year of admission. Intake permission under NMC for MBBS is 100 students. Seats under management and reservation quota are allotted according to Associate CET rules.

Academic and Practical Training Methods

Mentoring in education and practical training methods are comparable to that of international standards. Intensive and extensive exposures of students in any undergraduate and postgraduate study are emphasized upon. Rigorous practice, under the guidelines of NMC, is conducted through edifying lectures, training modules, introduction to intensive care medicine and pain, Anesthesiology clinic, performance procedural training in Operation Theatres and Intensive Care Units. Interactive tutorials, case study presentations, brain-storming sessions, problem solving skills training, are all part of the curriculum. Integrated and inter-departmental conferences and seminars are conducted regularly. Research on contemporary medicine and surgical procedures is given due significance. Regular internal examinations are conducted for assessing the understanding and application of medical processes of the students.

IMSR-affiliated 346-bedded teaching hospital is equipped with super-specialized, digitalized central clinical laboratory and 6 operation theatres for catering to diverse investigations in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Anesthesiology, Pathology, Radiology etc. The hospital has state-of-the-art cardiac, general, neonatal, pediatric and critical care departments, available for service, at remarkably subsidized rates. Spacious lecture halls, well-equipped central library, modernized computer labs, Internet connectivity, audio-visually-aided seminar halls, auditorium, community centers, sports complex, hostel and mess facilities, cultural activity centre, ATM, and much more to cater to dissemination of world-class educational services to students.
