Himalayan Institute Jolly Grant

The Himalayan Institute (Jolly Grant)Hospital Trust is situated near Dehradun in the Garhwal area at the foothills of the Himalayas. The institute is designed to assist this region’s populace of millions with pronounced medical, economic, and social needs. The aim of the HIHT institute is to improve cost-effective and integrated approach to healthcare and development of the country as a whole, and more so for the underserved population the country. Starting out with a small OPD in the year1989, a bed of 250 people hospital started functioning in the year1994. Soon after, construction of the medical college began. The college is recommended by the National Medical Commission, and the Government granted permission to start the medical college in 1996.

It aims to facilitate and nurture the environment for logical enquiry, innovation, research and commitment through the lifelong quest for knowledge and through selfless service. The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a four and half year program. The college admits 100 students every year for the program and admission process is through a India level Pre Medical Entrance Examination (PMEE) held in the month of May. The minimum age eligibility of the candidate is 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.

Criteria for Admission and Fees

Candidates applying in the college have to pass the 10+2, ISC/Intermediate examinations or its equivalent, with12 years of study. The last 2 years of the study should comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English from an accepted board or university and are required to pass in all the subjects. The candidates must pass the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English separately with a minimum of 60% (50%for SC/ST/OBC candidates) marks in total taken together in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) marks individually in each of the subjects in the qualifying examination. The candidates that qualify are required to sit for the entrance exam with their respective documents. The fee for the medical education is around Rs 9,80,000 per annum, which payable through demand draft or money with Himalayan Institute, Dehradun.
