Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College was established, in the year 1981, to provide quality healthcare education, research and training facilities to medical professionals to deal with the increasing health problems of the society. The various medical degree courses have received accreditation from the National Medical Commission or NMC and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The passing candidates are awarded medical degrees and diplomas from these two administrative organizations. Ananda Social and Education Trust runs the medical college, affiliated college hospital, School of Nursing, College of Nursing and Paramedical Institute. Over three thousand students have undergone training and mentoring from the college and are professionally successful medical practitioners, practicing world-wide. Postgraduate courses in 18 disciplines have started from the year 1992 in the college.

Admission Procedure of the Medical College

The college is renowned for its courses with various specializations in Medicine, Surgery, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Anatomy etc. Admission to 5 and a half years’ MBBS course inclusive of one year’s internship period is based on the students’ performances in CET or COMED-K Entrance Test and previous academic records. Scholarship is provided to meritorious students based on their performance in both past academia and entrance test. You need to have minimum 50 % marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in higher secondary examination and NEET Qualified to seek admission in the undergraduate medical courses. If you are a resident in other states apart from Karnataka, you have to secure an eligibility certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

Integrated and inter-departmental conferences and seminars are conducted regularly. Research on contemporary medicine and surgical procedures is given due significance.

The college-affiliated hospital is equipped with super-specialized facilities in laboratories and operation theatres for catering to diverse investigations in Pathology, Microbiology, Clinical Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine etc. The college hospital is well endowed with 600 beds inclusive of critical care units.
