Chitwan Medical College is a private medical institute in Bharatpur, Nepal. It is affiliated to Tribhuvan University. This is the first medical institution to have an ISO certification in Nepal. This college is a result of the joint efforts of a team of medical professionals who envisioned an institution in the valley to impart quality education and provide affordable health care services to the population of Chitwan. The foundation of this institution was laid in 2006. BNS program was commenced in the same year. In 2019, the institution was upgraded to a 750 beds hospital. The hospital registers a footfall of 1500 patients every day. Facilities in the CMC

1. Library Facility- The library at CMC is well organized and has a plentiful supply of books for the students. The catalogs are based on the Dewey Decimal Classification System. The library facility is available at two locations; one is at the college and the other library is in the hospital. The library timings are from 7 AM to 12 PM.
2. Hostel- The hostel facility is available for both boys and girls. It has a capacity to accommodate around 1000 students. The rooms are given for twin occupancy.
3. Canteen- The canteen facility is very good. There is a canteen for each hostel building and a separate canteen at the college and hospital also. The food served is hygienic and offers variety. A monthly charge of Nepali Rs. 6000 needs to be paid by the student.
4. IT services and Transport facility- IT services are available for all the students at CMC. More than a hundred computer systems and a WIFI zone have been set us at the campus. The students are provided their login ID and password so that they can access the online services. Bus service is provided to take students from the college campus to the hospital.

More About the MBBS Program in CMC

The MBBS program at Chitwan Medical College started in 2006 with an intake of 80 students. The MBBS course is designed to train medical professionals who are knowledgeable and use critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process. The MBBS program CMC is based on the principles of student-centered learning and community service.

Duration of MBBS Study in CMC Nepal

The duration of the MBBS program is 5.5 years. The 4.5 years are for the theory and classroom training and it is followed by one-year compulsory training. The internship starts right after the final exams and the candidate receives a provisional registration number from Nepal Medical Council. The internship period is divided according to the work experience needed for good medical training.

MBBS Intake in CMC

The annual intake of students for MBBS degree varies every year. On average around 100-125 seats are available for this program.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction for the MBBS program is English. There is no need to learn any local language or to pass any international language tests. You can communicate in Hindi/English in the campus but the classroom instruction is strictly English.

Eligibility

1. The eligibility for admission in the MBBS program is simple and basic.
2. A candidate should have scored 50 percent marks in class XII in the Science stream.
3. The candidate should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as main subjects at class XII level.
4. The candidate also needs to clear the entrance test conducted by the Institute of Medicine.
5. For Indian students, the NEET score for the same academic session will be valid. 

Documents Required

The admission process at CMC is simple. You need to submit the following documents with the application form:

1. Class X mark sheet issued by the board
2. Class XII mark sheet issued by the board
3. Provisional certificate
4. A valid NEET scorecard for the current academic session
5. A copy of the Passport page
6. A medical certificate issued by a certified doctor

Admission Process

The admission process begins in August and the deadline is usually around 10 September. The admission process is hassle-free. These are the following steps need to be followed for securing a seat at CMC:

1. The applications are invited in mid of August. The candidate should visit the college website and fill the application form.
2. The mark sheets for class X and XII and the other relevant documents should be scanned and uploaded with the application form.
3. A confirmation email will be sent by the college and the candidate should visit the CMC campus with their parents to testify and present the original documents.
4. The candidate will fill the other necessary documents and sign the agreement of the rules and regulations.
5. The candidate will have to undergo a medical examination conducted at the CMC campus. The successful candidates will be offered the final admission to the MBBS course.

The hostel facility at CMC is very good. The rooms are well-furnished and ventilated. There 4 hostel buildings. Each building has three wings. Two buildings are for boys’ hostel and two buildings are for girls’ hostel. The following facilities are available in the hostel:
