new rule not Valid for Current MBBS Students

The new rule for the foreign medical courses is not applicable for current students, said the Health

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the students who have taken admission under the current rules to study medicine in Abroad by attaining the eligibility certificate from the Medical Council of India are not subject to show up in the NEET. The NEET which is a national level examination for medical students was made obligatory for the students who desire to study medical courses in Abroad. This test has been made mandatory for the students to check their competence. This amendment made in the Screening Test Regulations introduced in 2002 was proposed by the Medical Council of India and approved by the Union ministry of Health and Family. The amendment was publicly declared after the final decision taken by the Health Ministry. The Ministry was receiving complaints from the new batch of students that some of the medical students have already moved to abroad for their studies and they are not subject to appear in the NEET. The Ministry replied,

“It is enlightened that the rule order that the Overseas Citizen/ Indian Citizens of India wishing to study medical courses from any institution that offers medical courses outside the nation, after April the 30th, 2018, will have to enrol in NEET to secure a seat in foreign colleges. This new rule will be executed possibly from the May 2018, which concludes that the medical students who have already attained the Eligibility Certificate from the Medical Council of India are not subject to show up for the exam. The proposal was proposed after the notice was brought to the Indian government that the medical universities and colleges outside India give admission to the Indian students without any proper screening or appraisal of the candidate’s potential to manage with medical studies. It was witnessed that many of the students fail to pass the screening. It is estimated that around 7,000 of medical students go outside the nation to study medical courses. The majority of the medical students move to Russia and China.
