Students desiring to study MBBS in Abroad have to show up in NEET Exam

Jul 25, 2018

The medical students who completed their MBBS degree in foreign universities lately will have to clear the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam to attain the license to practice in the country. But, now the students willing to study MBBS in abroad will now have to show up for an exam to leave the nation too.

NEW DELHI: The Indian government declared that the medical aspirants who desire to study MBBS in abroad will now have to clear NEET Exam to leave the nation. The test has been made mandatory by the government to give chance to only proficient students. There were minor changes made to the regulations of the screen test in India (2002), in the month of February 2018. The amendment was put forward by the MCI (Medical Council of India). The Ministry said the major reason behind the change in screening test regulation is foreign medical universities which admit students from India without any kind of entrance test. It is very important to check the ability of the students who go abroad to study MBBS to become a doctor. For this, there should be proper appraisal for the medical aspirants. Around 7,500 students in India go outside the nation to study MBBS. Most of them move to Russia and China to pursue MBBS.

According to the collected data, it was reckoned that only 19% of the students who show up in FMGE cleared the exam in 2015. It was found that some medical students practice illegally or start quackery after failing in the FMGE, which is obviously dangerous for the patients. According to the officials, the step is taken to make sure that only proficient students will get a chance to study MBBS in abroad and become a doctor.

Some complaints against the exam structure of FMGE were received but it was found by the committee that the syllabus was relevant and not tough at all! This change in regulation will be implemented in May 2018 a medical aspirant who is willing to study MBBS in abroad will have to show up in the NEET Exam to secure a seat in foreign universities. This rule has been proposed especially for the Indian citizens or the overseas citizens of the nation. A NOC (No objection certificate) to study in abroad will be issued to the medical aspirant only if he/she passes the NEET Exam.
